Starter 1999 was a set aimed at new players. It was like Portal in that the rules to play starter are considerably simplified. There are no artifacts or enchantments, and there are very few instants. This makes Magic the Gathering basically creatures and sorceries. Released in 1999, the 173 white-bordered card set is comprised of 35 rares, 55 uncommons, 63 commons and 20 lands. This set was not legal for DCI sanctioned play when it came out, but all the cards are now legal for sanctioned play. |
