Magic: The Gathering 2013 Core Set (Magic 2013) is an advanced level core set released on July 13, 2012. It contains 249 cards. Prerelease Events took place July 7-8, 2012 and Launch Parties on July 13-15, 2012. Game Day was on August 4-5, 2012.
Magic 2013 is the first Core Set to have multicolored cards, including Nichol Bolas, Planeswalker. It thus follows the tradition of recent Core Sets giving a taste and support to the themes of the Expansion following it, namely multicolored cards in Return to Ravnica.
The tagline for the set is "Face a Greater Challenge". Several new Magic 2013 cards and reprints have been released.
- Exalted - The exalted ability gives any creature you control +1/+1 when it is the only creature attacking that combat. Exalted was previously seen in the Shards of Alara block.
